Reconnect a previously installed printer to the Wi-Fi network if you purchased a new router, changed your Internet Service Provider (ISP), or changed your network name and password.
Use the network or wireless settings on the printer touchscreen to connect it to your Wi-Fi network.
Use the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer control panel to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Place the printer near the network router.
Make sure paper is loaded into the input tray, and then turn on the printer.
From the Wireless or Setup menu, select Network setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.
Get the network name and password. Go to Find the wireless network password or PIN to connect an HP printer for more information.
From the Setup, Network, or Wireless settings menu, select Wireless Setup Wizard.
Select your network, and then enter the password.
If the Wireless Setup Wizard is not listed, select Wi-Fi Protected Setup or WPS, select Push Button, and then follow the steps to connect to the network.
Print a wireless report to find information about your printer network connection or to identify connection issues.
On the printer, open the Wireless, Network Settings, or Setup menu to locate and print the Wireless Network Test report.
Review the information on the report or follow any instructions provided to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity problems.
For printers with buttons only, use Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS), the HP Smart app, or connection options from the printer homepage.
If one method does not work, try another method.
Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on the printer, and then use HP Smart to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Many HP printers have a Wi-Fi setup mode that helps the HP software connect your printer to a network. Restore Wi-Fi setup mode if the printer is not found during software setup or when the wireless connection is lost.
Go to Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on your HP printer for steps using the buttons on your printer.
The HP Smart app is the main software for your printer.
Install the HP Smart app to your mobile device or computer. Once installed, you can open the HP Smart app and use it to set up your printer on your network.
Use the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) button on your router to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Place the printer near the Wi-Fi router.
Put the printer in Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) mode.
Printers without a touchscreen control panel: On the control panel, press and hold the Wi-Fi button for 5 seconds until the light starts flashing.
HP DeskJet 6000, 6400, ENVY 6000, 6400, and Tango printers: Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Power buttons on the back of the printer for 3 seconds until the Edge or Wireless light starts flashing.
Within two minutes, press and hold the WPS button on the router until the connection process begins.
Wait for the Wireless light or bar on the printer to stop flashing. The printer is now connected to the network.
Once the printer is connected to the network, you can add the printer to the HP Smart app. For more information, go to HP printer setup (HP Smart app).
Use a Wi-Fi Direct connection to access the wireless setup tool from the printer homepage.
Turn on the printer and place it close to your computer or mobile device and to the wireless router.
Find the Wi-Fi Direct name and password. For example, DIRECT-72-HP OfficeJet Pro 6970.
HP Smart app: Click your printer on the app homepage, and then click Advanced Settings. Click the Network or Networking tab, and then click Wi-Fi Direct > Setup or Wi-Fi Direct Setup to view the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.

Most printers without a touchscreen control panel: Press the Information button on the printer to print an Information Report that lists the name and password. Printing reports from the control panel can vary by printer model.
Depending on your printer, another method might be:
Press and hold the Wi-Fi Direct button for 3 seconds.
Press the Wi-Fi Direct and Information buttons at the same time.
Press and hold the Resume button ( or ) for up to 10 seconds until the report prints.
HP DeskJet 6000, 6400, ENVY 6000, 6400, and Tango printers: Touch and hold the Information button until all buttons light up, and then touch the Information and Cancel buttons at the same time.
On your computer or mobile device, open the list of available wireless networks.
Select your Wi-Fi Direct printer name from the list of networks, and then enter the password to connect to the printer.
In a web browser, type 192.168.223.1 into the address bar, and then press Enter.
If prompted to log in, type admin for the username, if necessary, enter the PIN from the printer label, and then click Submit. This label is typically inside the cartridge access area.
From the Network menu, select Wireless (802.11), and then select Wireless Setup Wizard.
Follow the instructions to select your Wi-Fi network name and enter the password to complete the connection.
Reconnect your computer or mobile device to your Wi-Fi network.
