HP JetAdvantage On Demand - Install HP JetAdvantage On Demand as a company administrator

Provision, access and manage web-based printing and scanning applications through one source with HP JetAdvantage On Demand. Enhance the user’s experience, and conveniently manage apps from a centralized dashboard.
Place the right documents in the right hands. HP JetAdvantage Private Print documents are held in a secure print queue until a user is authenticated at the device and releases them – unreleased jobs are automatically deleted three days after submission. Save time and curb excess waste from unclaimed print jobs by empowering users to authenticate, release, and retrieve only the jobs they want.
HP JetAdvantage On Demand offers enhanced administrative control, including visibility of one's personal HP JetAdvantage Private Print queue, with a single web site to manage it all.

Activate the HP JetAdvantage On Demand company administrator account

To begin enjoying the benefits of HP JetAdvantage On Demand, create a company account. The creator of the company account automatically becomes the HP JetAdvantage On Demand administrator for the company, so be sure that the creator of the account is comfortable with administrative duties.
Once the company account is created, the company contact/administrator receives an email with their user name and a link to set a password. The activation email looks similar to this example:

  1. Click the Activate Your New Account link to open the HP JetAdvantage On Demand web site and set the administrator password. The password:
    • Must be at least 8 characters
    • Must contain at least 1 UPPER CASE character
    • Must contain at least 1 lower case character
    • Must contain at least 1 number or special character
    • Must have no white space

Log into the HP JetAdvantage On Demand company administrator account

After the administrator password is set, return to the HP JetAdvantage On Demand web site at any time by going to www.hpondemand.com.

  1. Using a supported internet browser, go to the HP JetAdvantage On Demand web site. A 'Sign-in' window displays.
    note:
    For a list of supported internet browsers, click here, and then go to the 'Supported web browsers' section.
  2. Type the administrator User name. The administrator User name is the email address that was used when the company HP JetAdvantage On Demand account was activated.
  3. Type the administrator Password, and then click the Sign in button. You are signed into the HP JetAdvantage On Demand company administrator account and a Welcome page displays.
  4. Click the Administrative Dashboard: HP JetAdvantage On Demand link to go to the dashboard. Or, click Begin Setup Wizard: Private Print to install the HP JetAdvantage Private Print app and enable the device on your network. The HP JetAdvantage Private Print app allows documents to be sent to a personal HP JetAdvantage Private Print queue, where they are held securely until ready to be printed. Queued print jobs can be printed on demand from the control panel on a supported printer

Add HP JetAdvantage On Demand users to the company account

Administrators can manage users through the company HP JetAdvantage On Demand account. Administrators can add and delete users, make a user inactive by "suspending" them, change a user's role, and view or edit user details such as the user's display name, email address, and phone number.
For information about how to import multiple users into HP JetAdvantage On Demand using a .csv file, click here. To add one user at a time, use the following steps:
  1. After logging into the HP JetAdvantage On Demand company account, a Welcome page displays. Click Administrative Dashboard: HP JetAdvantage On Demand to go to the dashboard.
  2. In the left navigation menu, click Manage Users.
  3. Click Add Users.
  4. Click Single User.
  5. Click inside a text box to add information. The user's First Name, Last Name, and Email address are required. The Verify Email text box must match what has been typed for the user's Email address. The user's Phone Number is optional.
  6. Verify that the Locale is correct, or select the appropriate language option from the pull down menu.
  7. In the 'Roles' section, you can choose to check the Company Admin box to give the user administrative rights, or leave the box blank. Company administrators can add and delete users, edit user details, suspend users and make them active again, and can change a user's role from User to Company Admin. Users do not have these permissions.
  8. Click the Save button. The new user is added to the list of current users, and the user receives an email with activation instructions.

Install HP JetAdvantage On Demand apps

Securely print confidential documents and reduce waste with the HP JetAdvantage Private Print app (Private Print). Private Print allows documents to be sent to a personal HP JetAdvantage Private Print queue, where they are held securely until they are printed from the printer's control panel.
Before the HP Private Print app is installed for Windows®, an administrator must install the HPPrivate Print app onto a printer and the device must be enabled.

Use the following steps to install the HP Private Print app for Windows® and enable the device:
  1. Make sure that the HP Private Print app has been installed onto a supported printer by an administrator. For information about how to install the HP Private Print app onto a supported printer, click here.
  2. Log into the HP JetAdvantage On Demand company account. A Welcome page displays.
  3. On the Welcome page, click Begin Setup Wizard: HP Private Print, or click Continue Setup Wizard: HP Private Print to start the Setup Wizard for the HP Private Print app. Or, from the dashboard, click HP JetAdvantage Private Print: Access Your Private Print Queue and then click Setup to start the Setup Wizard. An 'Enable the Device' page displays.
  4. Select a device from the drop-down list.
  5. Enter the printer's IP address or hostname and then click Open EWS. The printer's HP Embedded Web Server (EWS) opens in a new web browser window.
  6. In the Setup Wizard browser window, follow the on-screen instructions to enable either HP JetAdvantage or Web Services using the EWS, depending on the device that has been selected.
    note:
    To enable HP JetAdvantage, the printer must have the latest firmware installed. For more information about how to update the firmware on a supported Enterprise MFP, click here.
  7. Click Continue. A 'Download the Driver' page displays.
  8. Click Download and install the driver. A window opens with an *.exe file ready for download.
    note:
    The HP ePrint + JetAdvantage Driver can only be installed on Windows® 7 and Windows® 8 computers.
  9. Save the *.exe file in a location that can be found easily, and then open the file.
  10. After opening the *.exe file, follow the prompts to complete the download.
  11. Return to the Setup Wizard browser window, and then click Continue. A 'Test HP Private Print' page displays.
  12. Follow the on-screen instructions to print a test document using the HP Private Print queue.
  13. After the HP ePrint + JetAdvantage driver is installed on the computer, return to the HP JetAdvantage On Demand web site to see the HP JetAdvantage Private Print app on the dashboard.
    Confidential documents can now be sent to the company administrator's personal HP JetAdvantage Private Print queue and then printed on demand from the printer's control panel.
    note:
    Company administrators do not have access to end user's print queues.

    Click HP JetAdvantage Private Print: Access Your Private Print Queue from the HP JetAdvantage On Demand dashboard to see a list of queued HP JetAdvantage Private Print documents that are ready for printing.
    note:
    Documents in an HP Private Print queue expire 3 days after being added.
