HP PCs - Find product specifications when they are unavailable online

If your product specification information is unavailable online, use this document to find it on your computer.

Also, learn how to use HP PartSurfer to identify replacement components for your computer.

Product specification sheets are available for most, but not all, computer models from HP Customer Support using the product number. For information on finding the product number, go to Find product and serial numbers for HP PCs, printers, and accessories.

Note:

If you purchased your computer in a country/region different from your current location, use the Country/Region selector at the bottom of the HP Customer Support homepage to select the country/region where the computer was sold.

Product specifications are unavailable online in the following situations:

The computer was special ordered from HP, or only a few computers were built with a custom hardware configuration.
The product name ends with CTO (configure to order); for example, ENVY 17t-1000 CTO or Pavilion tx2000z CTO.

Find product specification information stored on your PC

The information needed to update drivers and identify hardware components is stored electronically on your computer. Use any of the following tools to find specification information.

Find product specifications using Windows System Information

Use Windows System Information to view information about your operating system, CPU, and installed memory.

How to Find Your Computer Specifications Using Windows System Information

Learn how to view information on installed hardware, attached devices, and current drivers using Windows System Information.

Search for and open System Information.
In the System Information window, click either the System Summary or Components category in the left pane to display detailed information about the computer components in the right pane.

The System Summary lists the operating system, system model, CPU, and BIOS version.

Click items under the Components category to display detailed information for sound, network, and storage devices. Detailed information might include device model, size, type of controller for local drives, and manufacturer.

Find product specifications using Device Manager

Use Device Manager to view information about installed hardware devices and current driver versions.

How to Find Your Computer Specifications Using Windows Device Manager

Learn how to view information on installed hardware, attached devices, and current drivers using Windows Device Manager.

Search for and open Device Manager.
View the list of devices that are installed and recognized by the operating system.
Double-click a heading (such as Disk drives) to expand the listing, and then double-click a device to view its properties.
On the Details tab of the device properties window, use the Property drop-down menu to view the types of information available for the selected hardware device and driver.

Find product specifications using myHP

Use myHP to find product specifications.

Download and install myHP, if necessary.
Search for and open myHP.
On the left side of the app, click Devices, and then click your computer.
Your computer model number is listed on this page. Click the information icon to see the serial number and product number.
Select Battery Manager to see information about your computer's battery, including capacity and serial number.

Find product specifications using HP Support Assistant

Use HP Support Assistant to find product specifications.

Download and install HP Support Assistant, if necessary.
Search for and open HP Support Assistant.
On the My Dashboard tab, the product name and number are displayed on the tile for your computer. Click Device specifications.
View the available specifications.

Find component information using HP PartSurfer

Use HP PartSurfer to find the names and part numbers for all replaceable parts on your computer.

Go to HP PartSurfer (in English).
Use the drop-down menu to select your country/region.
Select Product from the search drop-down menu, enter the exact product number of your computer, and then click the search icon.

Note:
If you do not know your product number, go to Find product and serial numbers for HP PCs, printers, and accessories for more information.

If your search finds multiple matches, select your product from the list of products displayed.
Scroll through the list of replaceable parts to view component information.
